East Penn currently has a Buyer position available who will be responsible for routine support of the production scheduling staff or procurement manager within the organization for all procurement-related tasks.
Responsibilities:
Reviews purchase requisitions and converts to purchase orders as required Responsible for procurement of purchased materials, parts, supplies in support of the manufacturing facility Communicate with assigned suppliers to ensure system information is accurate and up to date for all procurement functions within MRP System Negotiate advantageous pricing, contracts, terms, warranties, delivery / handling obligations, etc.
Relationship management of assigned suppliers including the ability to lead procurement during business audits Supplier research and development, monitoring Coordinates with other departments to reconcile discrepancies in inventory and stocking levels Provides direction to Assistant Buyer(s) for the coordination of return shipments of damaged or defective material(s) in addition to seeking credit Researches and selects suppliers as appropriate Identify risks that could impact the supply, delivery and customer demand Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback to suppliers Understand current industry and government regulations governing sustainability Identifies opportunities for improved inventory management and reducing purchase budgets Reviews and evaluates pricing changes for company impact Participate on new product teams as required, coordinating supplier pre-approvals, quotes, and new product entry into the MRP system Manage and process invoices, packing lists and other order history documents in conjunction with the Assistant Buyer(s) Manage and trend base material price indices for various materials.
Pre-qualifies suppliers in conjunction with the Supplier Quality group Resolves delivery related issues and assists in quality related issues Develops requests for quote and requests for proposals Prepares RFP and RFQ's responses for team evaluation as appropriate Application of Microsoft Excel skills to analyze data through abstract thinking to solve complex problems of quantitative word and number challenges Intermediate level application of local, state and national contract laws Employer reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position as necessary
Qualifications:
Experience & Qualifications 3
years of experience with emphasis on purchasing, procurement, or materials management with preferred applicants having worked in manufacturing environments Education/Certification Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain/ Business/ Engineering or related field; equivalent level of education, training and experience may be considered CPSM, CPM, CPIM, CSCP strongly desired Skills & Competencies Required:
Strong business math and analytical skills Broad knowledge and understanding of business and economics awareness Ability to read and interpret drawings, material specifications, pricing indices, etc.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and resolve issues or escalate appropriately for resolution Ability to analyze problems and formulate alternative/creative solutions to problems Industry knowledge as it relates to Supply Chain which include, but not limited to:
Procure to Pay, Inventory Control, negotiation fundamentals High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Proactivity as it relates to communicating information with manufacturing scheduling, MRP system updates, pricing, etc.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills Strong interpersonal skills; a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization Ability to multitask and prioritize in order to manage time efficiently and to meet deadlines Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Willingness to enroll and complete training course for Microsoft Excel as necessary East Penn
